Events

April has been a busy month and May looks to be just as promising for executives from The MORE Program, as they continue to reach out to government councils, commissions and development groups across Michigan to meet with leadership, begin to build relationships and spread the word.

On April 25th, executives from The MORE Program presented InsYght to the members of the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) during a meeting at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey. Members of the NLEA include business and community leaders from Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties, all located near the tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. During the meeting, The MORE Program executives provided an overview of InsYght, explained how it will benefit NLEA members, and showed how it will expand their access to the variety of business resources available throughout the state.

On May 20th, The MORE Program team will participate in a conference hosted by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) at their headquarters in the Buhl Building in Detroit. SEMCOG members represent communities in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties as well as a number of colleges, universities and school districts from those counties. The MORE Program executives will explain InsYght and how it will benefit SEMCOG members.

On May 26th, executives from The MORE Program will participate in the Michigan Economic Developers Association’s (MEDA) “Inside the Economic Development Toolbox” meeting at the Lexington Hotel in Lansing. Now in its 51st year, MEDA holds this meeting annually in Lansing to ensure participation by a wide cross-section of state and local economic and community development professionals, who come to the meeting for a fresh look at current and new programs available to them.

Meetings

The MORE Program team continues to extend its outreach to national, statewide and local organizations. In April, the team met with representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, all in Washington, D.C. In each meeting, MORE provided updates about InsYght’s progress, development and deliverable milestones, and its efforts to extend the reach of The MORE Program’s service offerings.

We’ve also met with leaders of several regional planning commissions in the state, including the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (Region 1) in Detroit; the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Region 6) in Lansing; the Northwest Michigan Regional Council of Governments (Region 10) in Traverse City. Plans call for meetings with the remaining commissions through the summer.

Participating in these conferences and meetings is just one way The MORE Program is working to engage with as many potential partners as possible. We want to ensure that the resources we’ll be making available through InsYght will be available broadly throughout the state once it goes live later this year. Face-to-face meetings still are the best way to connect with individuals and organizations.
